Dangerous Butterfly

February 14th, 2013 by

In this painting Russell has composed an image incorporating both photorealistic flames and chrome, 2 of his favorite subjects.  The wings and smoke antennae are mirror images, difficult to achieve accurately in a painting.  Looking closely one will note subtle differences between the two sides, but this is a testament to the fact that it is a painting and not digital art.  The body of the unique insect suggests both danger at the head and the tail, with the tail evoking the idea of a scorpion stinger.  This painting is 40″ by 30′ on canvas.  This painting is not available for sale, but prints are available.  Please email if interested in prints.
